German economy grows 0.8 percent in third quarter of 2017

Germany's positive economic growth continued during the third quarter of 2017 with the gross domestic product rising by 0.8 percent, according to figures from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Hamburg Enlarge image Hamburg (© picture alliance / R. Goldmann) Economic growth accelerated year on year, too with the price adjusted GDP rising 2.3 percent.

Germany's gross domestic product was revised up to 0.9 percent from 0.7 percent in the first three months of 2017, whilst GDP increased by 0.6 percent in the second quarter.

The third quarter figures were achieved by 44.5 million persons employed domestically, an increase of 668,000 or 1.5 percent on a year earlier.
