German musicians and orchestras at the BBC Proms

This summer's BBC Proms feature a range of German musicans and ochestras, such as Staatskapelle Berlin under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim, and four-time Grammy winner Anne-Sophie Mutter. See below for full details of the upcoming performances.

Christiane Karg

German soprano Christiane Karg at BBC Proms

German soprano Christiane Karg makes her Proms debut with a diverse repertoire, accompanied by Malcolm Martineau at the piano. Their musical voyage in song will take place on 21 August.

Freiburg Baroque Orchestra

Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and Isabelle Faust perform Mendelssohn at BBC Proms

Isabelle Faust makes her second appearance at this year’s BBC Proms alongside the dynamic Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, directed by Pablo Heras-Casado. The Proms matinee features three orchestral works by German composer Mendelssohn Bartholdy and will take place on 3 September.

Anne-Sophie Mutter

German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter at BBC Proms

Directed by Manfred Honeck, Anne-Sophie Mutter will play pieces by John Adams, Antonín Dvořák and Gustav Mahler alongside the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall on 4 September.

Renowned German violinist Isabelle Faust will feature alongside the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, directed by Bernard Haitink, as a soloist in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 in the third concert of the BBC Proms series on 16 July.

Staatskapelle Berlin plays Birtwistle and Elgar at BBC Proms

As part of the BBC Proms, the Staatskapelle Berlin under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim will interpret pieces by the two British composers Sir Harrison Birtwistle and Edward Elgar at the Royal Albert Hall on 16 July.

As 26th concert of this year’s BBC Proms, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under the artistic direction of lauded Paavo Järvi will play Johannes Brahms’ Second Symphony on 3 August.

Eclectic cellist Alban Gerhardt will perform alongside the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and soprano Lise Davidsen at the 33rd concert of this year’s BBC Proms on 10 August. The programme covers music by German composers Paul Hindemith and Robert Schumann.
