Memorial service marks 55th anniversary of German war cemetery in UK

Students from UK and Germany worked together on cemetery’s upkeep in weeks prior

On 26 July, a memorial service was held at the German war cemetery in the UK, Cannock Chase, to mark the fifty-fifth anniversary of the cemetery’s construction.
In the two weeks prior to the anniversary, students from the German city of Bremen together with students from the Staffordshire County worked together to prepare the memorial site.
Family members of German soldiers buried in Cannock Chase as well high ranking officials from Staffordshire County gathered for a memorial service which ended with a reception by the Chairman of Stafford County Council Michael Greatorex.
The Air Attaché Colonel Hanke laid a wreath and delivered a greeting address from the German Ambassador Peter Ammon.
