German economy grows 0.6 percent in first quarter of 2017

Year-on-year increase of 2.9 percent

The German economy grew by 0.6 percent during the first quarter of 2017, according to latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office.

The economic performance in the first quarter of 2017 was achieved by 43.7 million persons in employment in Germany, representing an increase of 638,000 (1.5 percent) over the previous year.

In 2016, Germany had the highest rate of GDP growth among G7 countries with a 1.9 percent increase in GDP.

The German economy grew by 1.9 percent during 2016, the highest rate of GDP growth among G7 countries, according to latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office. Employment also reached record levels.
