Record-breaking year for German tourism and visitors from the United Kingdom in 2016

Incoming tourism increased for the seventh year in a row

Germany registered a record-breaking 80.78 million international overnight stays during 2016, marking an increase of 1.4 percent (1.1 million) over the previous year. Visitors from Great Britain increased by 1 percent to almost 6 million during the same period.

Figures from the German National Tourism Board show that overall incoming tourism increased for the seventh year in a row with the United Kingdom remaining one of the top 5 most important markets for incoming German tourism during 2016.
