Orchestra a beacon of cultural ties between the UK and Germany

On 8 March, Ambassador Peter Ammon and his wife Marliese Heimann-Ammon hosted a concert by the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra in a chamber music setting.

Dr Marios Papadopoulos MBE, Music Director and founder of the highly acclaimed orchestra, together with violinist Natalia Lomeiko and cellist Mats Lidström performed piano trios by Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn.

Established in 1998, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra has become one of the leading orchestras in the UK. In 2013, the Orchestra and its Music Director were awarded the City of Oxford’s Certificate of Honour in recognition of their contribution to education and performance.

As a multiplier of German music in the UK and through multiple commitments to the town twinning of Oxford and Bonn, the ensemble has become a beacon of cultural ties between the UK and Germany.
