Appointments for Schengen Visas
Please try to apply as early as possible, especially during the summer months and before public holidays. You may apply for a visa up to 12 weeks before you start your trip. ONLY applications from residents in the UK can be accepted.

The Schengen countries are now required to take fingerprints from every visa applicant. The fingerprint data will be kept on the central Schengen Visa Information System for 5 years.
Postal applications can only be accepted if you have already provided your fingerprints at any foreign mission which is part of the Schengen area for a previous Schengen Visa application and you fall into one of the following categories:
- you are the spouse of an EU national or
- you have been issued with at least two Schengen Visas during the last 24 months or
- you have been issued with a Schengen Visa with a validity of at least one year during the last 24 months or
- you have been issued with a Schengen Visa from the German Consulate in Edinburgh during the last 12 months
- you are a student from China
Please be advised that we can only accept completed application forms including all the required documents and a pre-paid special delivery envelope (Max weight 500g !). The fee of 60.00 Euros is payable in British Pounds. Please send us the amount of 55.00 GBP in cash or postal order payable to the German Consulate General in Edinburgh. Any overpayment will be reimbursed.

Incomplete applications will be returned to the sender without being processed!
If you prefer to drop off your documents for postal application in person you can come to the consulate on Monday or Wednesday at 11.30 am.
